| Barebow | 1 | 1 |
Program Leadership

Final approval of athlete nominations rests with the Archery Manitoba Executive Committee.
Who Is Eligible?
To be considered for selection, athletes must:
- Shoot compound, recurve, or barebow
- Be a Manitoba resident for at least 180 days prior to the opening of the Games
- Be 20 years of age or under as of December 31, 2027 (born in 2007 or later)
Not eligible (per the Canada Games Technical Package): Senior National Team athletes; athletes who have ever held a Senior, SR1, or SR2 card under Sport Canada’s Athlete Assistance Program; and athletes who have competed for any nation at the Olympic Games, Senior World Archery Championships, Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, or FISU Games. Athletes holding a C card or in their first year of Senior National Team status may be considered on a case-by-case basis through the Chef de Mission and Canada Games Council Sport Committee.
How Selection Works
The goal is to select athletes with a reasonable probability of finishing in the top half of their competition at the Games.
Step 1 – Training & Competitions: Athletes must participate in all training and competitions set by program leadership. Program leadership may consider alternate training arrangements for athletes outside the Winnipeg Region.
Step 2 – Qualifying Events (September 1 – November 19, 2027): Eight 18M indoor 600-round qualifiers will be held: four in the West Region and four in the Winnipeg Region. Athletes must compete in at least two and no more than four qualifiers (any location) to earn a ranking score. Scores must be shot in the compound, recurve, or barebow division on the following faces:
- Compound: World Archery 40cm, 3-Spot Triangular
- Recurve: World Archery 40cm, 3-Spot Triangular
- Barebow: World Archery 40cm, 10 Ring
Step 3 – Qualification Finals (Portage la Prairie, MB – November 21 & 22, 2027)
- Saturday, November 21: single indoor 18M (600) round
- Sunday, November 22: round-robin match play (minimum three rounds per category; total rounds set at the event based on participation)
Step 4 – Final Ranking: Final rank is based on the combined Average Arrow Value (AAV) of:
- Two highest 600-round scores from qualifying events
- 600-round score from the Qualification Finals
- Combined match play scores from the Qualification Finals
Example: 547 (AAV 9.12) + 556 (AAV 9.27) + 551 (AAV 9.18) + 137+140+139 (AAV 9.24) = Total AAV 9.20
