Double Dose of Archery Action in Manitoba’s Parkland Region

July 19, 2024

Archery Manitoba hosted a successful weekend of events in the beautiful Parkland Region, near Inglis, Manitoba. Over two days, nearly 90 archers competed in the ASA Tour Manitoba Stop #3 (July 13) and the 2024 Archery Manitoba Outdoor 3D Provincial Championships (July 14). The picturesque venue, nestled in a ravine among the Hromlacks Lakes, also welcomed walk-on recreational archers to experience the course.

Both events boasted well-designed layouts that impressed competitors. A big thank you goes out to the archers and parents who travelled from across Manitoba, with some guests joining from Saskatchewan as well. The positive and encouraging atmosphere amongst the competitors of all skill levels was truly a highlight.

The success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the Archery Manitoba 3D Committee volunteers. Special recognition goes to committee member Francois Squirra and his family, Cornelia, Robin, and Petra, who put in countless hours grooming the course and setting up the IBO layout. Francois perfectly captured the spirit of the weekend: “When a person does what they love and connects with nature, it’s a successful day.” We extend our gratitude to everyone who made the trip to enjoy Manitoba’s natural beauty.

Capturing the beauty of the venue and the atmosphere of the competitions, we are very fortunate to have had member and talented photographer Reil Munro on-site taking photos of the event Sunday. We would like to extend our gratitude to Reil for sharing his skill and photos with us. A shoutout goes as well to ASA Tournament Director Sean Murray and committee member Kazwel Levandoski, along with his son Cohen, who flawlessly planned and set up the ASA Course. Their hard work, combined with the dedication of all the volunteers, ensured a smooth-running and enjoyable event for everyone involved. Tour Director Murray was pleased with the turnout in the Parkland Region, saying, “It’s great to see shooters making the trip from all regions of the province, following the tour and lending to its first-year success.” Tour Stop #3 was stage 3 of 4 of our inaugural ASA Tour, adding to the ongoing standings leading into the final stop near Virden, Manitoba next month.
