(shown above: Michael Oneschuk on the right working with Provincial Judge Candidate Chad Sanders)

Archery Manitoba would like to congratulate Winnipeg’s Micheal Oneschuk on his recent certification of World Archery Continental Judge. Mike’s hard work and dedication to Archery Manitoba and Archery Canada officiating over the past 5 years has been remarkable. Mike, Archery Manitoba’s Vice President Coaches & Officials has worked numerous national and provincial events, while training future Manitoba Provincial Judges during his time officiating. Since Mike began volunteering for our organization, he has acted as the 2018 Manitoba Winter Games Technical Delegate, judged at Archery Canada’s Canada Cup, Target and 3D National Championships and the 2019 Canada Winter Games in Red Deer, Alberta last winter.

Archery Manitoba would like thank Mike for his ongoing dedication to the sport and we wish him success as he enters the next stage of archery officiating. Our organization would also like to thank Archery Canada, Sport Manitoba and the Interlake Archers for their direct support in Mike attending the course in Orlando, Florida earlier this month.

America has eight new continental judges

Nov 18/2019

World Archery Americas developed its third training course for continental judges, from November 8 to 10, in Orlando, Florida, with 16 participants from the United States and Canada.

Taught in English by experienced international judges Sergio Font and Robert Pian, the three-day course included theoretical sessions in a classroom and practice at a local archery club.

Only judges with previous national experience could take the accreditation exam.

At the end of the course, Tracey Francis, Kristy Wapniarski, Sandra Reynolds, Jennifer Laux and Wendy Whalen of the United States, and Michael Oneschuk, Eric Fok and Mark Cote of Canada were accredited as continental judges.

The seminar in Orlando was the last of three organized by World Archery Americas in 2019 after Santiago de Chile in March and Medellin in May.

World Archery: CANADA’S AUSTIN TAYLOR MAKES GOLD MEDAL MATCH AT WORLD YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

WATCH AUSTIN SHOOT FOR GOLD LIVE AT 12:33 PM (CST) ON SATURDAY AUGUST 24 ON YOU TUBE AT: https://youtu.be/REm-0hXaZfc

Article from: https://worldarchery.org/news/174136/canadas-austin-taylor-makes-gold-medal-match-world-youth-championships

22 August 2019
Madrid, Spain
The country has had two previous winners at the event: one team, one individual.

Austin Taylor, 19, will shoot for Canada’s first title at the World Archery Youth Championships since Doris Jones won compound junior women’s gold in Merida in 2006.

Taylor seeded sixth in Madrid.

He showed nerves of steel in his first match after both he and Jagdeep Singh of Colombia shot 145 points for the 15-arrow 50-metre match. A shoot-off was needed and the Canadian archer put his arrow into the X.

Austin then beat Turkey’s Emircan Haney, German archer Paolo Kunsch and Rodrigo Olvera of Mexico with scores of 145, 146 and 146 points.

It sets up a gold medal match against Anders Faugstad on Saturday.

“I am absolutely pumped, that’s what I was looking for over the last few years. I’m definitely excited,” said Taylor.

“The competition level is so high that you can’t expect to get into the gold medal match but I definitely knew that if I stuck to the game plan, I had chances to do that.”

The compound bow has brought the majority of previous successes for Canadian archery.

Jones won an individual gold at the youth championships in 2006 and a Canadian junior men’s team was world champion eight years ago in Legnica in 2011.

Christopher Perkins was a junior when he became senior world champion that same year. Dietmar Trillus won the title in 2007.

The 2019 World Archery Youth Championships takes place on 19-25 August in Madrid, Spain.

Team Manitoba Archers advance to Semi Final & Final Events at 2019 Youth Worlds

MADRID — Canada’s Austin Taylor, of Winnipeg, will compete Saturday in the gold medal final at the World Archery Youth Championship.

Winning all of his elimination rounds — first against Singh Mejia Jagdeep Teji of Colombia, then Emircan Haney of Turkey — Taylor found himself against Paolo Kunsch of Germany in the quarterfinals, which Taylor won, putting him into the semifinals against Olvera Mendez Rodrigo of Mexico. Taylor won again, guaranteeing a podium finish and earning a berth in the gold medal final against Anders Faugstad of Norway.

The gold medal match goes Saturday at 19:33 Madrid time, or 12:33 Central Daylight Time. In addition to being a national team member, Taylor is a member of Archery Manitoba’s provincial team.

The gold medal match can be streamed live at: https://youtu.be/REm-0hXaZfc

Also earning a shot at a medal, Canada’s cadet men team — Robbie Comberbach, Brady Klassen and Kyle Cherniak, all from Winnipeg — will shoot in Friday’s semifinal, with a berth in the gold medal match or a chance to shoot for bronze, on the line. They face Denmark, which Thursday set a world record for team match play with a score of 236.

Canada’s 10th ranked cadet mixed team, made up of Klassen and Kristen Arsenault of Prince Edward Island advanced to the quarter finals Thursday with a decisive win over 7th ranked Estonia with a score of 146 – 136. Mixed team quarter finals continue Friday against 2nd ranked Mexico. Winnipeg’s Austin Taylor leads the Canadians at World Archery Youth Championship

MADRID — Finishing qualifications in sixth place with a score of 698 out of 720, Winnipeg archer Austin Taylor, shooting in the compound junior male category, is the top Canadian at the World Archery Youth Championships in the Spanish capital. Archery Manitoba congratulates all the Canadian archers in Madrid, including the six from Manitoba.

Winnipeg archers Brady Klassen, 10th place with a score of 691, Robbie Comberbach in 14th place with a score of 687 and Kyle Cherniak in 30th place with a score of 678, turned in a strong performance in the compound cadet male category. The three represented Canada’s entire cadet compound male team.

Bryanne Lameg, also of Winnipeg, had a strong 15th place showing in the junior female compound category.

Winnipeg’s Chyler Sanders, in her first world championship, was excited about her 36th place (out of 47), with a score of 643.

The qualification rounds wrapped up Tuesday, with archers progressing to elimination rounds beginning Wednesday, with medal rounds concluding on Saturday.
