Manitoba Archers Shine at Canadian Field Championships

August 7, 2024

Team Manitoba made a strong showing at the 2024 Canadian Field Archery Championships in Fredericton, New Brunswick, bringing home multiple medals.

In the U21 Compound Division, Taylor Klimchuk overcame a fourth-place qualification to claim gold in a thrilling final against Nova Scotia’s Jyotsna Challa. Teammate Acadia Flockton narrowly missed out on a medal, falling in the quarterfinals of the U18 Compound division. Unfortunately, U18 Compound teammate Bailey Mathers, ranked third, was unable to compete due to injury.

Manitoba’s dominance continued in the compound ranks with Brady Klassen securing gold in the 21+ division. Klassen advanced from third seed to defeat PEI’s Duncan Crawford in the final.

In recurve, Kadin Giebelhaus took home gold in the U21 Men’s division, while teammate Cleo Wermann-Thorn finished fourth.

Archery Manitoba’s Greg Rubell also contributed to the team’s success, winning the Barebow 50+ division.

Congratulations to all Manitoba archers on their outstanding performances at the Canadian Field Championships!

The archery action continues tomorrow as the Canadian Target Championships kick off with practice and the Fred Usher Cup.
