2024 Canada Cup West

Winnipeg, Manitoba—Archery Canada’s 2024 Canada Cup West, held on June 8 and 9, was a resounding success, showcasing the skill and dedication of nearly 100 athletes. This year’s event, hosted along the picturesque Assiniboine Forest at the Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, was coupled with Archery Manitoba’s inaugural Canwest Youth Cup for U15 competitors. This combination drew a remarkable turnout, exceeding the average participation of 65 athletes, underscoring the growing popularity of competitive archery in Western Canada.

Competitors hailed from all four western Canadian provinces, the Northwest Territories, Ontario, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Colorado, bringing a diverse and vibrant energy to the competition. Despite the weather conditions leading up to the event threatening to disrupt the venue setup, the organizing committee and volunteers ensured everything proceeded smoothly.

The event featured a 720 qualification round, followed by mixed team and single elimination matchplay over the two days. The flawless execution of the tournament was a testament to the dedication of the host, who organized the committee, officials, and numerous volunteers. Special thanks are due to the Archery Canada staff, volunteers, and officials who traveled to support the event and ensure its success.

Athletes and their families also played a crucial role, traveling great distances to participate and contribute to one of the largest Canada Cups. The support from venue hosts and provincial sponsors, including Sport Manitoba and Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries, was instrumental in providing a quality experience for all attendees.

Archery Manitoba thanks Archery Canada and its sponsors for their unwavering support and generous prizes. Notable sponsors included the Government of Canada, DataCore Fund Services, Verona Real Estate Group, Vortex Canada, Canada Archery Online, and the Canadian Archery Foundation. A highlight of the event was the prize giveaway of a pair of Vortex Canada Diamond Back 10 x 50 binoculars, which was won by Victoria Tensen.
